May be identified by a color tracer on the cable, or by a colored tracer thread inside . 

Zipcord Optical Fiber Cable is designed for the termination of the miniature connectors including LC, MTRJ, MU and other small form-factor connectors that utilize these small diameter cables. A variety of colors are available. All PVC cables are RoHS compliant. Cable diameter  from 1.6mm, 1.8mm, 2.0mm, or 3.0mm OD is available.
